Questions, answered.
How does Phone Take A Photo work?
Open the app, prop your phone up, and say “take a photo.” The camera fires instantly. Say “start recording” and “stop recording” for video. No buttons, no timers, no Bluetooth remote.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. Speech recognition runs on-device with an offline AI model, so it works on a hike, at the beach or in airplane mode — and your voice is never uploaded.
Is it free?
Yes, Phone Take A Photo is free to download. Optional in-app purchases unlock the full feature set and remove the watermark.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone and iPad (iOS/iPadOS 16+), Apple silicon Macs (macOS 13+), Apple Vision Pro, and Android phones via Google Play.
Can I use a Bluetooth or external microphone?
Yes. You can pick which microphone the app listens to, including Bluetooth headsets and earbuds — handy when the phone is far away on a tripod.
Can I trigger the camera without talking?
Yes. The sound-reactive shutter fires on a clap or a loud sound, which is great in places where you'd rather not speak.
Is the browser demo the same as the app?
The demo on this page uses your browser's built-in speech engine to show the idea. The app uses its own offline speech model, takes full-resolution photos and video, and adds night mode, long exposures and manual controls. Need help? Email PhoneTakeAPhoto@gmail.com.
