The setup

  1. Phone height: waist to hip level, angled very slightly upward. This keeps proportions natural and makes legs look longer. Shooting from head height makes you look shorter.
  2. Distance: 2–3 meters with the main (1×) rear lens. Avoid the ultra-wide (0.5×) lens up close: it stretches whatever's nearest to it.
  3. Portrait orientation, with a little space above your head and below your feet.
  4. Plain background: a wall, a door or open sky. Clutter steals attention from the outfit.

Trigger it hands-free

Walk into position and say “take a photo” with Phone Take A Photo. Because you're not racing a timer, you can adjust your sleeves, hair and stance, and then shoot. Change pose and say it again.
